Choosing where to place your Cannon Safe is as important as choosing the safe itself. The right location should balance security, accessibility, structural support, and protection from environmental conditions while allowing the safe to function.
Begin by selecting a discreet area that is not visible from outside the home or from used entryways. Bedrooms, closets, offices, basements, and garages may be suitable, depending on the safe’s size and your household. The location should remain accessible to authorized users without advertising the safe to visitors.
Floor strength is another consideration. Large gun safes can be heavy, especially after firearms, ammunition, and valuables are added. Concrete floors often provide strong support, while upper floors may require evaluation by a professional. Always confirm that the surface is level and capable of supporting the weight.
Avoid areas exposed to moisture, flooding, rapid temperature changes, or water. Damp conditions can contribute to corrosion and may damage firearms, documents, and the safe’s interior. In humid locations, consider moisture-control products and inspect the safe regularly.
Measure the delivery path before finalizing the location. Check gates, doors, hallways, corners, stairs, and ceiling clearances. Make sure the safe door can open without hitting walls, furniture, or obstacles.
Once the safe is positioned, follow Cannon’s installation instructions and anchor it when recommended. Anchoring can help prevent tipping and make unauthorized removal more difficult.
The best location keeps your Cannon Safe secure, supported, dry, and accessible. Careful placement improves use and helps the safe provide dependable protection for years to come.
